There's nothing Adric can truly do to get the Wanderer to budge, if he were so inclined. Even experienced fighters could not pry his hand from around their neck. But he decides it's not worth continuing to harass the poor man like this and lifts his foot to avoid the vine, giving Adric the chance he needs to escape.
