[The pinch to the cuff of his sleeve is gentle, more to simply have something to ground her than to actually hold him. Nothing feels quite real, but the texture of the damp cloth helps her stay focused. The way he speaks helps her find a rhythm in the flow of his thoughts when both of them are struggling to sort themselves out.

But the more he speaks the more her expression clears, the more focused she is on him and his words. Slowly her thoughts begin to settle, turning over all this new information as her curiosity sparks to life, weighing his words with a tilt of her head and a soft hum.

The Primordial Sea sounds a lot like the Lifestream. Back home...the Lifestream is the blood of the Planet, all of the life on Gaia comes from and returns to the Lifestream. Every living thing, from plants to animals to people, their life force comes from the Lifestream. All their hopes and dreams, their fears and memories, it's carried in the flow. When they die, their life energy returns to the greater Lifestream, where it waits until it's born again as something new.

[She looks up then, her eyes wide.]

You're the guardian, aren't you. Fontaine is yours to watch over and protect, and that's why the water listens to you so well.

[The words you're like me are not spoken, but it's clear on her face and there's a recognition in her gaze, and she knows her comparison might be off the mark but something about it feels...she can't explain it. Aerith doesn't know for certain but there's something about it that itches at the back of her mind.]
